THE BEST THING
WEBSITE + CINEMATOGRAPHY
A platform for movie lovers to watch movies
in a revelutionary way: By selecting options during the narratives, users can make choices for the characters as what they do in real lives.
MARCH 2016
Intro Movie
"Only one week I've used
to shoot and edit the intro movie
of project The Best Thing."

It was a rough demo for my imagination.
Ideally, it will be a solution of watching
an interactive movie
within a web browser.

Users can not onlt sit and watch
how the story goes but control it,
by making choices for
the characters...

Click the link at the page footer
to experience the demo.
THE DESIGN
Home Page
A trailer at the homepage,
for users to watch and decide
if they want to continue
the whole movie.

The trailer is not interactive,
but good enough to tell
the story line which can be changed
by user's motivations.
THE DESIGN
What is
the Best Thing
Imagine the contents of a story,
such as video clips, photos,
graphics and sounds,
are all existing in the 4D space (not 3D),
connected with a timeline which can
also be modified by users.

Like our real lives,
we make different choices that leading
our lifeline to alternate endings...
THE DESIGN
How to control
Now we can make this possible
by this amazing project
"The Best Thing".

We can truly experience
somebody's real life
by making choices for them,
and see what will happen next.
THE DESIGN
Watch
To achieve this,
filmmakers have to shoot every possibly
and necessarily storylines and
make each storyline logically reasonable.

Not all possibilities, like in real life,
we don't make stupid decisions.
And we usually only have
two to five options, most of the time,
to make sure we are heading
good directions.
THE DESIGN
Watch
Choices like,

say yes or no
to the person you like,
what to dress to meet her,
what to say,
ask her for a dinner or a movie.
If something bad happens,
what your decisions will be,
leaving the problem unsolved,
or stepping up to face it.
